Message in a Bottle

My Wandering Wednesday Series are dedicated to the flight of my imagination now and then, captured by my camera lens. And then, favourite songs and movies simply fill in the gaps for the right captions! I try to give you the backstory of the picture too. Perhaps you may see a tale hidden there. Check the previous posts here.

For many of us these bottles were an intricate part of our childhood. Gola (Crushed Ice Candy) was an inexpensive treat that added colours of simple joy to our smiles. I recently visited Juhu Beach and was taken back in time. I did not dare to eat one though for fear of getting a bad throat. I was worried where the ice came from and if the vendor was hygienic. Somehow, life was so uncomplicated when we were kids. Nothing mattered but the moment. This Holi, may colours of simplicity fill your moments with happy memories for later.

These colors define us, the Indians…from the colorful city palaces to our weddings to even the “gola” flavors, we ought to be the most colorful culture in the world!
    Happy Holi 🙂

Completely agree Prateek. We are a handsome bunch, aren’t we?

The older you get, the more careful you become, the wiser you think you are, the less you get to “be in the moment.” I could so identify with the water and hygiene worries. Yet this was what childhood was all about, golas, the berries, the panipuris and the churans. Life was so beautiful and simple. Loved the way this post made me feel.

Subho, your comments make me feel that I have succeeded in telling the story the way I intended to. Thank you!
