Tea for Two

Myย Wandering Wednesdayย Series are dedicated to the flight of my imagination now and then, captured by my camera lens. And then, songs and movies simply fill in the gaps for the right captions! I try to give you the back story of the picture too. Perhaps you may see a tale hidden there. Check the previous postsย here.

My parents always talked over a cup of tea. That morning ritual was sacred. It was food for the soul. We grew up watching them. It somehow gave the assurance that as long as you spoke over a cup of tea, everything will be alright. I still believe that. However, as I grew up, I graduated to coffee. The busy city life don’t give you that luxury of a lazed morning. I have to wait for dinner to play catch up with hubby. But I do have a morning ritual of my own. I have my cuppa coffee and me time. And yes, it is manna for my soul, that heart to heart chat with myself, about how I am gonna spend my day today. I need that soul connect to be, simply me. You should try it!

Shot this at Mainland China, Malad, as we waited for lunch to arrive. The downcast skies in the background against theย suburbanย skyline were an added bonus. The rains are being generous to Mumbai this year and so far, I am loving it. And in such weather, the most mundane of things can lookย etherealย  It is all a matter of perspective. Take off your judging glasses! They are way out of fashion, this season.

Most of the conversations my parents have is over a cup of tea. The morning ritual is sacred to them ๐Ÿ˜›
    Lovely click !

I am liking it! I enjoy my own “me” time and chat with my very large mug of coffee in the morning every. single. day. Must. Then suddenly the day looks a lot brighter and everything seems possible.

True Vidya. It is an affirmation I need every morning, no matter the stakes, I’ll rock the game ๐Ÿ™‚

Rainy season is the one I look forward to every year, and to quote you, “the most mundane of things can look ethereal”.

I have been reading so many rainy-posts lately! Oh whyever cant the Rain God grace me too? Please send some across to Gulf-land, will you, BG? I’m craving for some showers!

As for the morning cuppa, I’m a tea person, but I can totally relate with the me time you talked about having with your cup of coffee! I have the same with my morning tea ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Blogwati Gee avatar

Ah, my sis has been craving for the rains too in your land. God willing……..soon!

And I am so happy to know that people have this ritual just like me. IT kinda brightens my day already ๐Ÿ™‚

    Suzy

My morning tea ritual was with my dad – tea and toast at 7 each morning. I miss that. Now I tea and toast alone and even though it’s me time it’s not fun time. I miss my dad. And it’s tea for me – nothing like a nice strong cuppa. Love the pic – very nicely composed.

    1. Blogwati Gee avatar

I can understand Suzy. Sometimes, things are just not the same. But glad you continue the ritual. Somewhere there is a starnge comfort in familiarity.

I love the tea kettle. I can recall waking up as a child to my parents talking to each other on the dining table … it made me feel secure and happy

    1. Blogwati Gee avatar

Yes Ritu, security in a way we’d never know again. You are so right.

  11. Naina Madan avatar

I loved the back story and I do it myself. Kind of helps connect you better to the picture.

On that early morning teac ritual, I too have grown up watching my parents follow the same. I can so relate to it. Also, since my sister and I are coffee drinkers and like you mentioned, due to hectic days, we all catch up with each other usually on Saturday & Sunday evening, parents with tea, us with cold coffee and biscuits and matthi for company!

Loved your post today. Felt like home.

    1. Blogwati Gee avatar

And I am so glad you feel the way you do right now. As I blogger/writer I think we live for such moments where words have the power to touch lives. Hugs.

Anyway liked this piece . cheers to the me-tea time !

Thanks Afshan ๐Ÿ™‚ Yes, with you on the rains being pleasant…..

You are so right, Vinita. Judging should go out of fashion. I enjoy my me-time on the long commute to office. Instead of making small talk with my fellow-commuters, I prefer to keep my own silence. It is very enriching. Tea times, unfortunately, see me gulping down the stuff, rather than savouring it. Maybe I’ll try that on a holiday.

    1. Blogwati Gee avatar

Savour the tea and the me time Cynthia. Works for me. And yes silence is amazingly a clarion call for clarity.

  15. wordsndreamz avatar

I do that too – my coffee and me time, first thing in the morning. And it is priceless! I feel odd and rushed, if I ever have to skip it.

    1. Blogwati Gee avatar

Oh, I so understand that feeling WnD!

  16. dianasmusings avatar

There’s no better way to start the day than by having a hot cup of Tea/ coffee. I love this morning ritual and infact all my family members are tea drinkers. I love the tea kettle !

    1. Blogwati Gee avatar

Oh, I loved it too……..and believe it or not, it had soya sauce in it…..lol!

My mother’s tea time would be at around 11am after all her housework was done…sipping that watching her fav serials ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚ Dad would have his tea after coming from office and would never finish it and then give the remaining to the one who has been a good child during the day ๐Ÿ™‚ :).. a ritual which we waited impatiently for to happen ๐Ÿ™‚ ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. Blogwati Gee avatar

Oh my daughter leaves a quarter of her milk for our cat everyday. And give Tinkle the same milk in another cup, she won’t have. Can you imagine? So I can totally understand about rituals……these are such wonderful family things.

Good that we are going to these little things and pondering over them. They make you feel comforted and complete. Such thoughts are real fillers.

    1. Blogwati Gee avatar

Oh little things is what rocks my world all the way. Big things are too heavy to carry around ๐Ÿ™‚
