The Butterfly Effect

My Wandering Wednesday Series are dedicated to the flight of my imagination now and then, captured by my camera lens. And then, songs and movies simply fill in the gaps for the right captions! I try to give you the back story of the picture too. Perhaps you may see a tale hidden there. Check the previous posts here.

When we see a butterfly, we never think of the caterpillar’s journey. We see what our eyes show us. We might admire the beauty, crave the agility or envy the freedom that they have. Yes, it constitutes the fact, but it is not the complete truth. People are just like butterflies. We build our perception around what we see in them. More often than not, it is what we want to see in ourselves. And if they turn out to be any different, we have cause to say they have changed. But have they really? Is it them or is it us? Have we witnessed their Chrysalis in totality? If not, we can’t be the one to throw stones. For if we do, the butterfly will simply fly away. Because Change is the only Constant.

The rains last evening were gently strumming their fingers across the green landscape. I saw this gorgeous Common Mormon (Female- Form Cyrus, thank you Wikipedia) on the nearby Kadama Tree. It was a symphony like no other. The colours made for a framed masterpiece. The eco system is so self sufficient that you can’t help but marvel at the divine technology. The flower needs the butterfly, just as much as the butterfly does the flower. No one is more important. Both are equal in their own might. Together they created perfection. And left me with this souvenir.

Well said Vini. I sometimes really wonder why is it so difficult for people to accept others as they are. Yeah, no one is perfect, but preaching is different from following what we preach.

Well, if we all understood ourselves, there would be no conflict at all. 🙂

The sad thing is that we don’t see too many of the real butterflies around anymore. The figurative ones, especially of the social kind, those there are aplenty!
    Nice capture!

No sparrows and no butterflies too………….Rickie, that trip to Bombay is way overdue now. But yeah, I know what you mean about the social kinda.

I sort of agree with Rickie. The real butterflies are few and far between. Perhaps they conveyed something different from what they were. Reality is a myth at times.

Reality is only as real as we can handle Rachna. Unfortunately, most of the time we are in la la land. But, I hear you.

Lovely! You’ve raised some great questions here, Vini. Everyone makes choices – and all we can do is respect them and allow them to move on or move on ourselves. Sadly, we are all guilty of not letting that happen – by trying to push too hard to make everyone fit into our mould.

Thanks, I truly believe Corinne, that no one can make you feel anything you don’t believe in. Eventually, the choice lies in your hands. Unfortunately, not all of us are blessed with introspection. And that is when the world seems all wrong.
