Best Foot Forward

Myย Wandering Wednesdayย Series are dedicated to the flight of my imagination now and then, captured by my camera lens. And then, songs and movies simply fill in the gaps for the right captions! I try to give you the back story of the picture too. Perhaps you may see a tale hidden there. Check the previous postsย here.

โ€œLet there be spaces in your togetherness, and let the winds of the heavens dance between you,” Khalil Gibran said of marriage, in his book, The Prophet. But I think it stands true for any relationship. Each one, as an equal, brings to the table their weaknesses and strengths. And that is what makes up a unique equation, one that the two people involved, understand the value of. ย They celebrate being different. They might share a vision, not necessarily the path. They talk, they laugh, they share, and they also argue. A healthy friendship is not the absence of debate, it is the presence of gratitude in spite of a difference of opinion. Inadequacy of thoughts, words and deeds have no room when you see eye to eye. When you find someone like this, hold on!

This picture was clicked last week on Independence Day at Juhu Beach. My bestie and I, along with many other parents, were there to cheer our kids for the mini marathon. The breezy Mumbai seaside and we couldn’t resist being kids ourselves. Splish, splash, splosh we went, to the delight of the child in us. We are mad when we are together. On most days, we do lead separate lives. We hardly meet, but talk often. We don’t do the family and friends jig either. We have our own space and we prefer it that way. More often than not, we hang out in a group, yet manage to stand out. What connects us is the wavelength. She is gorgeous, I am sexy, and together, we kick ass! Be scared. Be very scared.

Very beautifully said. Good friendships are often rare and when they come by, they must not be allowed to let go. Happy picture!

Ah so agree on your take on friendship or for that matter any relationship. When there is a lack of space and even mutual respect, the relationship starts becoming stifling and flounders. It is indeed good to find good friends. As decades go by, you don’t even think before reaching out to them. They sort of become an extension to your own personality. Hey, and I am so getting yellow nail paint at my next pedicure. I just love it!

    1. blogwatig avatar

Friends truly are an extension of our personality. I couldn’t have put it better Rachna.
