Y.O Why? – The Black Dog Chronicles

Black Dog, the Scotch named after a fishing fly was founded in 1883 by Sir Walter Millard. Today, a 130 odd years later, Black Dog is the fastest growing Scotch in the world. It is distilled, aged and matured in Scotland, while the Black Dog blends have been created by the master blender Mr. Richard Paterson

At this stage it becomes imperative to know your malts and your blends. A single malt Scotch is made from 100% barley and comes from a single distillery. It is traditionally double distilled, and aged for at least three years. A blended whisky on the other hand is a blend of single malt and grain whisky. A blend will often have whiskeys of various ages in the mix to add to the flavour.

Black Dog Gold Reserve 12 YO is one such fine Scotch. And it brings with it the blend of fine whiskies from all the regions of Scotland – Speyside, Islay, Highlands and Lowlands. No wonder then it is the largest selling BII Premium Scotch whisky in India with a 60% market share.

Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve, as the name itself suggests, is the only blended Scotch that is produced involving a triple maturation process. The triple maturation process is an intricate method where Grain whiskies and Malt whiskies are separately matured in American Bourbon Casks. Then they are blended together by a master blender and matured again in Oloroso Sherry Butts for an added period of time. This process gives the Scotch a distinctive flavour and a delicate finish. One that is enjoyed by whisky connoisseurs the world over. A recently conducted consumer research showed the TGR blend on par 12 Y.O blended scotch, a highly commendable feat, indeed.

Black Dog Triple Gold Reserve. Available in all pack sizes – 1 ltr, 750ml, 375ml, 180ml and 60ml. Take your pick.
