My Wandering Wednesday Series are dedicated to the flight of my imagination now and then, captured by my camera lens. And then, songs and movies simply fill in the gaps for the right captions! I try to give you the back story of the picture too. Perhaps you may see a tale hidden there. Check the previous posts here.

A source of light is all you need to dispel darkness, the size not withstanding. A candle  too can provide that reassurance just as a lamp would. It is their job to give light and show the way. Many a times, we need that someone to light up our life. That special someone could be anybody, but to us they mean the world. They are our candle in the wind. But what if the flickering flame begins to doubt itself? What if the source of light does not wish to be just a selfless source? After all, they are entitled to a life of their own, aren’t they? At such times, you trade places and be the wind beneath their wings. For every one is bound by their destiny, which they need to find….

This is my lamp at home. Yes, I have a thing for flowers and sepia tones. This solitary piece lights up my living room and makes it more inviting. It is the sign that tells outsiders, someone is home. We sit for our family time under her warm halo. She is a witness to all our casual evenings and a silent spectator to our busy mornings. An accessory that speaks of our innate love for fine things.  And with all this, she blends in a busy household for the day, looking forward to the time when she is needed again. She might not know it, but she makes my house ……a home.

  1. We choose things that we like so that we can make our house a home. That’s our personal touch…a piece of us. 🙂 It indeed has a warm glow.

    1. Thanks Janaki. Yup, it is one of my fav bits at home. And happy to state that the hubby picked it up 🙂

    1. Oh, I just fell in love with this template…………and don’t ask the circus I’ve been through to get this going. But worth it….I am blog proud 🙂

    1. Yes Dagny, it somehow gave me a serene feeling and yet a serious outlook. I browsed zillions to get to this ONE.

  2. I loved the lamp. It inspires me to do a DIY. Maybe I should try it soon. Your article is endearing as always Vinita. I melted at the line – “She might not know it, but she makes my house ……a home.” It is a big compliment for anybody or anything.

P.S Love your new layout, just that it looks like a professional service blog more than you. But it is still louve! 🙂

  3. What a sweet post! I feel the same way about my bookcase. I feel very nice and cosy when I sit by my books. Even my little ones feel the same. The husband does not unfortunately. But 3 out of 4 isn’t bad, methinks.
Your lamp does look very beautiful. I can imagine how it might transform your house and make it a home. I wish you and yours many happy memories in the hushed glare of its light.

    1. I can so identify Cynthia. Book cases do make some very happy people too. Thanks for dropping by.

  4. Now my outlook towards the humble lamp has changed. When there is a source of light at home, it sends a message to the outside world that the inhabitants are in their den. Thanking for highlighting an orinary piece in an extraordinary way.

    1. Wow, Kalpana, such a generous compliment. Thank you. I am glad that you found this ordinary piece, extraordinary.
